October 31, 2024
BATON ROUGE, LA — Brian Irving, PhD, was chosen to join the Louisiana Board of Regents’ inaugural cohort of Meauxmentum Scholars. Irving is one of 100 faculty members chosen from around the state to participate in this program due to his commitment to excellence and student success in the classroom.
“I am deeply honored to be selected as one of the 100 faculty members in the inaugural cohort of the Louisiana Board of Regents Meauxmentum Scholar Program,” said Irving. “As one of only four scholars chosen from LSU, I’m excited to collaborate with colleagues from across the state in our shared commitment to excellence in education and student success. I look forward to contributing to this important initiative to improve student outcomes and close equity gaps throughout Louisiana.”
The Meauxmentum Scholars aim to improve student success and close the equity gaps
in higher education across Louisiana. The Louisiana Meauxmentum Summit invited leadership from all 28 of the state’s public undergraduate institutions of
higher education to discuss how The Momentum Approach can be incorporated on their
campuses to ultimately reach the goals of the state’s higher education master plan,
Louisiana Prospers.
“Dr. Irving’s appointment to the inaugural cohort of the Meauxmentum Program is a
just reward for his outstanding excellence in the service of our students at all levels,”
said LSU School of Kinesiology Director John Nauright, PhD. “He is one of the best anywhere in both research and
in developing student opportunities. The School of Kinesiology is fortunate to have
world-leading professionals like Dr. Irving as we build our team that is winning in
and for Louisiana and around the world.”
During his time in the cohort, Irving will participate in professional development events, engage in statewide initiatives to advance the Meauxmentum Framework, lead faculty learning communities at LSU, and contribute to an edited publication.
