International Services (ISO) provides centralized immigration services to LSU departments, international faculty, international staff, and visiting scholars.

About LSU Employee Types

Classified/Civil Service employees are all employees in positions covered by the provisions of the State Civil Service System. All actions affecting classified employees are made in accordance with Civil Service rules and regulations. Classified employees are critical in creating and fostering an environment to support Louisiana State University’s mission of providing world-class education and successful student development. Classified positions include: custodians, maintenance workers, horticultural attendants, drivers, and more! Select Civil Service positions require a passing score on a Civil Service test. Professional employees include administrative officers and professional staff, as well as all employees in positions exempt from the provisions of the State Civil Service System. Employees in this category are sometimes termed “unclassified.” Professional Employees play a critical role in the university’s ability to achieve success in classrooms, communities, and offices.

Faculty are at the heart of Louisiana State University’s land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant mission of providing a world-class education to challenge students to achieve the highest levels of intellectual and personal development. Appointment types include tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenured faculty positions, as well as clinical and research positions.

LSU is a family-friendly university and may grant temporary departure from the tenure-track during a period of time when the faculty member’s personal obligations or situation can reasonably be anticipated to impede progress towards tenure, in addition to other circumstances. Other academic employees include part-time members of the academic staff and full-time members of the academic staff below the rank of instructor, or equivalent. Employees with academic responsibilities who do not hold faculty rank and part-time faculty (instructors and above) are also included in this classification including: clinical, teaching, research and library associates; lecturers; and part-time faculty or adjunct faculty. Becoming a Temporary or WAE (Wages as Earned) employee is a wonderful way to get a foot in the door at LSU. These positions allow individuals to contribute while learning how the university works and develop skills through a variety of assignments. Temporary and WAE employees are employed for a fixed term, and in some instances, these positions are seasonal or part-time.

In the “My Applications” section, you will be able to see all active and inactive job applications and their status. You can also see any tasks that may be incomplete like inputting a Date of Birth or Research Documents in the “My Tasks” section.   

Current LSU Employees: Log in to Workday. Type “My Job Applications” in the search bar. In the Candidate stage column you will see the most updated status of your application.

It is not unusual for us to receive up to 200 applications for a given position. While you may meet the qualifications for the particular position, there may have been other applicants who met and exceeded the qualifications and/or met the preferred qualifications for the position. Typically, 5-10 applicants will be selected for interviews by departments for a given position.

There are several different shifts depending on the department of the custodial positions. The shifts could be day or night, weekends, or weekdays. If you are contacted for an interview, please discuss the shift with the hiring manager.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Some positions have a well-defined salary and hiring ranges. Unfortunately, not all do. We encourage you to apply for this position.
