CHSE ResidentiaL COLLEGE

The CHSE Residential College, located in Cypress Hall, is a living-learning community for CHSE students. Residents live and learn together in reserved sections of core first-year classes. Cypress Hall houses group study and meeting rooms where supplemental instruction and tutoring opportunities are available. Academic advisors and instructors hold office hours on-site. More about Cypress Hall

Classes offered in Cypress Hall include: ATRN 200, Engl 1001, HSE 1000, Kin 1600, Kin 2500, Tai Chi, and Yoga. These courses are only available to Cypress Hall residents.

Students residing in living-learning communities are more engaged in their studies, strengthening academic performance and learning skills and improving overall satisfaction. These results appear across a variety of institutions with diverse student populations.

ECELP building

Early Childhood Education Laboratory PreSchool

The LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool (ECELP) is a Reggio Emilia - inspired research facility within the School of Education and is aligned with undergraduate and graduate programs in Early Childhood Education. The ECELP is NAEYC accredited.

The ECELP serves as a laboratory for the generation of cutting-edge research in the areas of child development and education. It also serves as a training site for undergraduate and graduate students as a model demonstration site within the community. Through its support of research and teaching, the ECELP will generate and disseminate knowledge about best practices in early childhood education to support children’s development and learning.

George Peabody Hall

George Peabody Hall was completed in 1925 and was originally home to the University Laboratory School. Currently, Peabody Hall is home to the School of Education, School of Information Studies, and the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development. 


Huey P Long Field House

Huey P. Long Field House

The Huey P. Long Field House was constructed in 1932 and was considered the original student union. It included a post office, ballroom, gymnasium, and featured the largest swimming pool in the United States at that time.

The newly renovated Field House is home to the College of Human Sciences & Education, the School of Kinesiology, and the School of Social Work.

The School of Kinesiology has three research programs: Motor Behavior Research Program, Exercise Physiology Research Program, and the Pedagogy and Psychological Sciences Research Program.

University Laboratory School

The Louisiana State University Laboratory School is a Kindergarten through 12 public school. This coeducational school exists as an independent system to provide training opportunities for pre- and in-service teachers and to serve as a demonstration and educational research center. The school is located on the main campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. LSU Laboratory School was the first International Baccalaureate Diploma Program school in the state of Louisiana and is adopting the complete K-12 program. IB is a model curriculum that stresses creativity, inquiry, service, and internationalism.
