BATON ROUGE – Aimee Badeaux, PhD, CRNA, APRN, CNE, a two-time Louisiana State University alumna, has received the 32nd annual Program Director of the Year Award from the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA). Badeaux completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at LSU Health Sciences Center and received her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from LSU Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education within the College of Human Sciences & Education. Badeaux is the first in Louisiana to receive the award as the inaugural program director of the nurse anesthesia program at Northwestern State University.
The AANA recognizes registered nurses who make significant contributions as program directors. Badeaux was presented the 2024 Director of the Year Award at the 2024 Annual Congress this summer in San Diego.
The Program Director of the Year Award, established in 1991, honors a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who has made a remarkable impact as a program director in the education of Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs). This award celebrates the recipient's dedication to the nurse anesthesiology profession and their role in advancing educational standards that enhance both the art and science of anesthesiology, ultimately contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Badeaux is currently the Interim Dean of the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health as well as the Nurse Anesthesia Program Coordinator at Northwestern State University. She played a key role in the creation of NSU’s Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nurse Anesthesia (DNP-NA) program, the first of any such program in north Louisiana.
