President's Address
Greetings All,
It has certainly been an eventful time for LSU! While we bid President Tate a fond farewell and a sincere thank you for the monumental achievements we have realized under his leadership, we welcome Dr. Matthew Lee into his new role as Interim President. I have every confidence in Dr. Lee's desire, ability, and commitment to continue to propel LSU, our staff, faculty, and students to new heights beyond what we've ever imagined possible. Welcome, Interim President Lee.
Staff Senate has been busy finalizing some new things! I am honored to share with you our new Strategic Plan. You can read the full plan here. Our Long Range Review and Planning Committee, co-chaired by President-Elect Quinneka McDonald and Member-at-Large Dr. Tammy Millican, worked tirelessly to gather staff input to create a plan that reflects the needs of our staff. Thank you to the entire committee for all your hard work to ensure we have a guide to our work for the next five years.
Our Education and Professional Development Committee, co-chaired by Neely Martin-Whitaker and Anthony Oster, has been hard at work to create a new option for staff who are completing a degree with LSU. They have created a regalia closet that will be available for all staff to borrow the necessary regalia for commencement ceremonies. The regalia closet will be in Hatcher Hall and will be composed of donated regalia. If you have regalia you would like to donate, including robes, caps, or college hoods, please reach out to me or Jennifer Kennison to arrange drop off.
Finally, a couple of reminders: We have extended the deadline to apply for Career Excellence and Enrichment awards to June 13. Please submit applications for consideration here. We are also encouraging everyone to check out Coursera to see what offerings they have for our professional development. With new courses being added often, and plenty of self-paced options, this is a wonderful opportunity to further your learning from the comfort of your computer!
