Shelter in Place Begins Wednesday 10 a.m.
September 10, 2024
Just a reminder to finalize your preparations now for Tropical Storm Francine. Tropical storm and/or hurricane force winds are expected to impact the Baton Rouge area beginning tomorrow morning and will likely last until Thursday afternoon.
For students who are remaining on campus for the storm, for your safety, we are issuing a shelter in place order from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 1 p.m. on Thursday. This means that we are asking you not to go outside during those times, as there will be the possibility of flying debris, downed power lines and trees, and flooded streets. Please stay safe by remaining inside during those hours and allowing LSU Facility Services and the city-parish to clean up after the storm. If you live on campus, meals will be delivered to your residence hall during the shelter in place timeframe. Please stay in contact with Residential Life staff for details.
Once the shelter in place order has lifted, please continue to use caution and stay informed about local news and weather. Conditions like street closures and power outages may linger for hours or days after the storm has passed.
Thank you for your cooperation as we prepare for the storm.
