Facilities
The NCAM, located within the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility, consists of 80,000 sf of high bay manufacturing space which houses large scale, multi-axis robotic equipment focused on the following advanced manufacturing processes:
- Friction Stir Welding – (4) machines with working envelope up to 93’ x 23’
- Automated Fiber Placement - (2) machines with working envelope up to 50’ x 16
- High Speed Machining – (2) machines with working envelope up to 30’ x 18’
- Non-Destructive Evaluation – (1) machine with working envelope up to 24’ x 12’
The NASA Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) has one of the world’s largest indoor manufacturing facilities (43 acres) and provides advanced laboratory services, mechanical and chemical testing, machine shops, build-to-print part/component fabrication, clean lines, heat treatment, spray booths/paint booths, transport & lifts, extensive overhead crane network and environmental services.
MAF Overall Site Capabilities include:
