LSU Students to Begin Moving Back to Campus Aug. 12
August 11, 2022
BATON ROUGE – More than 8,000 new Tigers will make LSU their home on Aug. 12.
“As a parent of a college freshman this year, I feel the excitement differently this year,” said LSU Residential Life Executive Director Pete Trentacoste. “I am confident in the work and preparations our team has made to welcome students back to campus in a fun, safe way.”
First-year students move in Aug. 12-14, while returning students living in on-campus apartments are scheduled to move in Aug. 19-21.
Students start their move-in experience at the move-in staging area, which is located at Levee Lot 412 on River Road, at their designated arrival time with no more than two vehicles. Upon arriving to the staging area, students will be welcomed by university staff volunteers at welcome tents where they will get their residence hall hang tag and start the drive through campus to their new homes. Students and guests must get a wristband at the River Road staging area for entry into the residence halls and apartments.
Move-in is part of LSU Welcome Week, the final phase of orientation to LSU. This exciting event takes place right before the semester begins so that students become more comfortable and prepared to start their experience at LSU.
LSU Residential Life offers living-learning environments for first-year students in traditional residence halls or apartments and nine residential colleges – Agriculture, Business, Engineering, Mass Communication, Science, Human Sciences & Education, Humanities & Social Sciences, Visual & Performing Arts and the Honors House. According to national data, students living on campus as first-year students have higher GPAs, higher graduation rates and higher retention to second year rates than their off-campus peers.
