CMDA Course Release for Book Completion Grant

The CMDA will consider a limited number of course release requests for tenure-track or tenured faculty to complete a book. Proposals require evidence that significant work has already been done, including chapters completed, book contract, heavily annotated outline of chapters, previous trips to libraries to do research, etc. It needs to be plausible that the book will be completed or substantial progress made toward publication by the end of the course release semester. Course release requests are competitive.

We encourage those interested to complete a Notice of Intent (NOI) prior to submission of the full Course Release Proposal. For the full proposal you will need to submit the book title, publisher contract, rationale for the course release, annotated table of contents, sample chapter(s), and a project timeline. The NOI and Proposal Submission Form are located on the CMDA Research website (search under “Opportunities”). Please submit proposals for 2025 (spring or fall semesters) by November 15, 2024.
