Personalize Your Recruitment Plan
Successful Recruiting at LSU
Our most successful employers are those who invest in building an employer presence on campus through consistent postings of job vacancies, routine attendance at career fairs and networking events, partnerships with academic units and student organizations, and volunteering and assisting with career development programs on campus.
While it is true that your recruitment success highly depends on your recruitment investment, our team is here to help make this an easy and rewarding process for you.
We hope the list below will serve as a precursor to more strategic conversations with our Employer Development and Relations team.
Opportunities for Personalizing Your Recruitment Plan
Students are more likely to be interested in and respond to employers who maintain a strong presence on campus. Here are just a few ideas on how you can establish a positive image at LSU so your company can recruit a strong and diverse group of students:
Participate in our Employer Drive-In Workshop.
This annual one-day workshop, including panels and presentations that vary each year, will teach you everything you need to know about having a successful recruiting season at LSU.
Post current job opportunities on Handshake, our online system for job postings and on-campus interviews.
Attend Fall & Spring Career Events.
Join the 250+ organizations showcasing their organizations to 2,000+ students at these incredible browsing fairs each semester. Consider expanding your reach even more by attending either the E. J. Ourso College of Business Expo Reception or the College of Engineering Expo Reception occurring during Expo week. Information on all of these annual events can be found on our events page.
Internship programs are a great way to develop talent for the future of your organization and to build hiring pipelines.
Participate in our On-Campus Interviewing Program.
Meet students where they are - on campus or anywhere virtually! Interview students in our state-of-the art Recruitment Center, offering 22 technology equipped interview rooms available in a variety of schedule formats to meet your specific hiring needs. These same services are offered virtually as our Recruitment Center is the perfect space for students to take part in their virtual interviews in a quiet, professional environment.
Employers are invited to partner with our office through strategic recruitment efforts, the Corporate Partner Program, and the Career Center Partner Program.
Sponsor a Career Event.
Many of our career events provide opportunities for your organization to receive recognition through sponsorship. You can learn more about these opportunities on our events page.
Advertise in the annual Student Career Guide.
Advertise in the campus newspaper.
The Daily Reveille, LSU's student paper provides a great media outlet for advertising your evening presentations and recruiting dates. (The Daily Reveille: 225-578-4810).
Contact academic departments and student organizations.
Make contact with these groups throughout the year. If you are visiting campus for interviews, be sure to contact them at least two weeks in advance so information can be announced to members and/or a personal visit arranged. You can also consider reaching out to our office Liaisons for any academic colleges of interest to you to help you identify groups to reach out to.
Engage with students through programs in partnership with the OCC.
There are some unique opportunities to partner with the OCC on student development programming throughout the year. These topics can be everything from how to stand out to employers at a career event to assessing workplace culture.
On-campus and/or virtual presentations and information sessions provide an opportunity for you to meet informally with students and share materials about your company outside of formal recruiting events and on-campus interviews.
Join a professional organization for recruiters and career centers.
We belong to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE), and Louisiana Association of Colleges and Employers (LACE). These organizations facilitate networking among college career centers and employers and provide resources related to college recruiting and career planning. We encourage you to join us!
