Manager, Student Services

As an undergraduate student, I had no career counseling, nor was I even aware of the service. I spent most of my undergraduate career not sure of what I wanted to do after graduation. I lean heavily on this experience in my interactions with students knowing that for some they are having similar anxieties. By helping students find the intersection of their Interests, Values, and Skills I hope to help guide students to fulfilling careers. My biggest goal in my student affairs practice is to be the person that I wish I had when I was a student.

In sync

In undergrad from my Sophomore through Super-Senior year I was Drum Major of the Monarch Marching Band and even made some guest appearances as the mascot Big Blue.

Words of wisdom

“It Depends” – Dr. Michelle Boettcher. This quote comes from my Higher Ed Law and Ethics class, but I believe it translates to the work I do in Student Affairs greatly. Each student I work with may come in with a similar issue but each case is unique and comes with its own
set of challenges. Every decision a student makes while at LSU is a byproduct of their previous experiences and creates a butterfly effect of endless possibilities for their future; so in my work in advising students I always lead with “It Depends”.

Homeward bound

One time in the Las Vegas airport, I found a puppy in a bag on the back of the bathroom stall. They called a supervisor and put out a call to the airlines to see if anyone forgot a puppy. An hour passed, and no one came to claim him. She said, “At this point the only two things we can do are, call animal control and they can take care of it, or...You could take it?”

Fast forward a few months and now Kevin is “best friends” with my cat Hawkeye and takes up every second of my time that I am not at LSU.
