I came to LSU after years in the agency world and overseeing high-level corporate events. During those years, my free time was spent on community causes and setting up and running a non-profit. As the owner of LSU traditions and volunteerism, Campus Life was a perfect match for my interests and background.

Running an in-house marketing team of students is an amazing experience. Having students develop and lead marketing and think with an experiential mindset sets these students up for success upon graduation. I can’t think of a more fulfilling purpose than helping students start their careers.

It goes without mentioning, although I will say it, that working in this capacity within Student Affairs means we can impact every student’s experience. Ensuring every student feels seen and belongs is powerful. It’s important work.

Cookie business

I spent 12 years in volunteer leadership roles with Girl Scouts Louisiana East, with seven of those years as a Service Unit Administrator (SUA). As an SUA, I was responsible for the business, volunteerism, and scout experience for up to 350 girls. And yes, that includes managing cookie season, where we would move $225,000 worth of products through our unit. While I retired from that role when my daughter left for college, I can still hook you up with cookies during the season.

A daily vibe

The LSU Student Union is my favorite spot on campus. It is here where you can get a sense of how busy the campus might be at any point in the year. The building and vibe vary drastically according to the time of day or day of the week. It’s also where my office is located and where I spend most of my time on campus.

Invented holidays

Blank Space Day. Too often we think we must stack holidays with plans and obligations. This day is reserved for zero plans.
