Description
Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor position in the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University. We invite applicants with a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related fields) from recognized institutions and a proven record of academic accomplishment. Welcome research areas are broad, but must align with LSU’s vision in areas of energy, biotechnology, coast, defense, and agriculture.
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching courses in chemical engineering and to build a strong research program through independent and collaborative work. Applicants are encouraged to review the strategic plans of the University (LSU Strategic Plan 2025) and the College of Engineering, both available online at lsu.edu.
Successful candidates will benefit from LSU’s synchrotron facility (CAMD), a new state-of-the-art transmission electron microscope, and LSU’s NSF Engines FUEL grant, a recent $160 million award to position Louisiana as a global energy transition leader.
45% - Teach undergraduate and graduate chemical engineering courses.
45% - Lead a recognized and sustainable research program, which results in procuring external funding and leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals, along with associated service in support of the research mission and reputation of the unit. Supervising graduate student research.
10% - Provide service to LSU, the chemical engineering profession and the community.
Qualifications
PhD in chemical engineering or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field. Ph.D. candidates will be considered, as long as the Ph.D. is obtained by August 15, 2025.
