Boyd Professor Emeritus Art Bedeian Received the Society for the Advancement of Management’s Taylor Key Award

The Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) awarded LSU Boyd Professor Emeritus Art Bedeian its prestigious Taylor Key Award at the SAM International Business Conference on March 22 in Orlando, FL. The Taylor Key Award, first presented in 1931, is the highest honor a SAM non-society member can be awarded and is bestowed on an individual who has made significant and enduring contributions to the field of management.
“ The Taylor Key Award is one of a long list of honors received by Dr. Bedeian for his decades-long contributions as a scholar, educator, and academic leader in the field of management. He has had a profound influence on the field’s development and is very deserving of this honor,” said Tim Chandler, chair of the LSU Rucks Department of Management ”
Bedeian is a former Ralph and Kacoo Olinde Distinguished Professor of Management at LSU. He is a past president of the Academy of Management, the Foundation for Administrative Research, the Southern Management Association, and the Southeastern Institute for Decision Sciences. A former Dean of the Academy of Management’s Fellows Group, he is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Association for Psychological Science, the International Academy of Management, and the Southern Management Association.
During his time at LSU, Bedeian received the Distinguished Faculty Award, Distinguished Research Master Award, Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Award, and Foundation Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award. In 1996, he was also named a Boyd Professor, the highest professional recognition that can be awarded to an LSU faculty member.
In addition to being an editor of the Journal of Management, he’s served on 18 other editorial boards. He also chaired the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholar Board and has been an external reviewer for the National Science Foundation, the National Academy of Science, and the National Research Council of Canada.
