E. J. Ourso College of Business Announces 2025 AI in Action: Leading in Louisiana Industries Symposium

BATON ROUGE – The E. J. Ourso College of Business is pleased to announce AI in Action: Leading in Louisiana Industries; a symposium dedicated to exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) is driving innovation in critical sectors that define Louisiana's economy. This groundbreaking event will be held February 21, 2025 at the Lod Cook Hotel & Conference Center on the LSU A&M campus.

AI in Action will bring together leading voices in AI research, development, and application across diverse fields including business, public policy, education, entertainment, healthcare, and manufacturing. The keynote presentation will be delivered by Darren Haas, a pioneer in the field of AI. Haas co-founded Siri, the groundbreaking virtual assistant acquired by Apple, and has held leadership positions at Apple, GE, and Amazon Web Services. Currently Head of Engineering at Voltron Data, which focuses on accelerating enterprise data analytics with GPUs, Haas has a deep understanding of AI's potential to revolutionize industries.

"Preparing businesses for an AI-driven future is essential to Louisiana's long-term success," said Jared Llorens, Dean of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business. "This symposium is our call to action, bringing together key stakeholders to explore how AI can be harnessed to drive economic growth, solve critical challenges, and create a brighter future for our state."

“LSU is committed to leading the way in AI education and research, ensuring that our students and faculty are at the forefront of this transformative technology,” said Roy Haggerty, LSU Executive Vice President and Provost. “By fostering deep collaboration between academia and industry, this symposium will help identify the critical skills needed for Louisiana to thrive in the age of AI.”

The symposium will offer attendees a unique opportunity to directly engage with leaders from Louisiana’s key industries, LSU researchers at the forefront of AI innovation, and nationally recognized AI experts through a series of moderated discussion panels, each focused on a critical sector of the Louisiana economy, including:

  • AI and Business: Transforming Louisiana’s Economy
    This panel will explore how AI is reshaping business practices across all sectors of Louisiana’s economy, discussing the opportunities and challenges businesses face when integrating AI into their operations, from automation to decision-making.
  • AI in Public Policy and Education: Shaping the Future
    This panel will focus on AI’s role in government, regulation, and how Louisiana’s educational institutions are adapting to an AI-driven future.
  • AI in Entertainment and the Arts: Innovation in Creativity
    This panel will showcase how AI is pushing the boundaries of artistic expression in Louisiana, from revolutionizing film production and music creation to generating new forms of visual art and interactive experiences.
  • AI in Healthcare: Improving Outcomes and Efficiency
    This panel will delve into cutting-edge applications of AI in patient diagnostics, treatment optimization, drug discovery, and healthcare delivery, leading to better outcomes and a more efficient healthcare system.
  • AI in Oil, Gas, Chemical, and Manufacturing: Boosting Productivity
    This panel will examine how AI is optimizing processes in oil and gas, chemical production, and manufacturing, leading to increased productivity and improved safety.
