Welcome Week

August 14-21, 2022

Welcome Week is the final phase of your orientation to LSU. This exciting event takes place right before the semester begins so that you can be completely comfortable and prepared to start your experience at LSU.

We know that students who attend Welcome Week are more confident when they start classes and are more successful throughout their time at LSU. This is because they have had the time to meet new friends, have learned about the resources that will help them to be successful here at LSU, and know what it means to be a true LSU Tiger. It’s also a lot of fun! Attendance at Welcome Week August 14-21 is mandatory for all members of the Class of 2026, and we can’t wait to see you back on campus!

Further complicating things is learning to live on your own, being homesick, struggling with time management, and just stress. The first exam especially traps many college freshmen. So what if you could take your first exam and it didn’t count against you? What if you could learn the software before school starts? What if you could experience a real 80 minute class lecture before it counts? What if you could meet other highly motivated freshmen and build study groups before the semester begins? That is exactly the program that BIOS/CHEMIS provide. BIOS/CHEMIS are programs that have been offered at LSU for 15 years and served over 4,000 students. Previous studies have shown that BIOS/CHEMIS students have outperformed their peers all the way through graduation.
