LSU AgCenter’s digital agriculture team is using such emerging technologies as drones, satellite imagery, and artificial intelligence to help inform Louisiana sugarcane farmers and others on how to grow more and better food and fiber.

“Using these AI and machine learning techniques, we can speed up the research process compared to traditional experimentation that can take decades,” said Luciano Shiratsuchi, associate professor in the LSU School of Plant, Environmental & Soil Sciences.

Work at LSU serves to improve outcomes for Louisiana farmers and establish the LSU AgCenter and Agricultural College as leading providers of agricultural innovation and education for the nation.
