Nineteen ROTC Cadets Commissioned as Part of LSU Spring Commencement Exercises

BATON ROUGE –Nineteen LSU graduates were recognized during LSU’s spring commissioning ceremony on Thursday, May 16, in The Student Union Theater. Maj. General Edmond M. Brown, Chief of Staff at the United States Army Futures Command in Austin, Texas. served as the keynote speaker for the ceremony.

LSU Army ROTC

  • Dahlonega, Ga. – 2nd Lt. Jack Arthur Fagnan received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Science in Geology with a minor in Professional Leadership. After graduation, Fagnan reports to Fort Moore, Ga., to attend the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course.
  • Baton Rouge, La.– 2nd Lt. Jessica Blair Michelet received Bachelor of Arts degrees from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and English with a concentration in Creative Writing. She also received a minor in Professional Leadership. After graduation, Michelet reports to Fort Huachuca, Ariz., to attend the Military Intelligence Basic Officer Leader Course.        
  • Gainesville, Ga. – 2nd Lt. Jackson Richard Rosebush received a Bachelor of Science degree from the E.J. Ourso College of Business in Management with a concentration in Strategic Leadership. After graduation, Rosebush reports to Fort Moore, Ga., to attend the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course. 
  • Memphis, Tenn.– 2nd Lt. Ruth Jacquelyn Smith received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in Anthropology with a minor in Asian Studies. After graduation, Smith reports to the HHD 773rd Military Police Battalion at Camp Beauregard near Pineville, La., as an Intelligence Staff Officer. 
  • Mandeville, La.2nd Lt. Scott Thomas Scalia received a Bachelor of Science degree from the E.J. Ourso College of Business in General Business. After graduation, Scalia reports to Fort Moore, Ga,, to attend the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course. 
  • Silver Spring, Md. – 2nd Lt. Spencer Gasch Lanning received Bachelor of Arts degrees from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in History and French with minors in Professional Leadership and International Studies. After graduation, Lanning reports to Fort Moore, Ga., to attend the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course. 
  • Deptford, N.J. 2nd Lt. Brennan Charles Vilary received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in Political Science. After graduation, Vilary reports to 136th ESB BCO (Louisiana Army National Guard) as a Signal Officer. 

LSU Air Force ROTC

  • Buras, La. – 2nd Lt. Leon Long Ching Aing received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Science in Biological Sciences.  After graduation, Aing reports to the 35th Fighter Wing at Misawa Air Base in Misawa City, Japan, as a Force Support Officer.
  • Houston, Texas– 2nd Lt. Joseph Leonard Derringer II received a Bachelor of Science degree from the E.J. Ourso College of Business in Business Management.  After graduation, Derringer reports to the 354th Fighter Wing at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska, as a Logistics Readiness Officer.
  • Fort Worth, Texas – 2nd Lt. Matthew Ryan Polozola received a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. After graduation, Polozola reports to the 502nd Air Base Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolf in San Antonio, Texas, as a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Pilot Trainee.
  • Leesville, La. – 2nd Lt. Zoe Elizabeth Robbins received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences in International Studies with minors in Anthropology, French, and Political Science.  After graduation, Robbins reports to the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, N.D., as a Force Support Officer.
  • Belle Chasse, La. – 2nd Lt. Kenneth James Spreitzer received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Human Sciences & Education in Sport Administration.  After graduation, Spreitzer reports to the 14th Flying Training Wing at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, Miss., as a Pilot Trainee.
  • Baton Rouge, La. – 2nd Lt. Tyler Philip Thomas received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Engineering in Construction Management. After graduation, Thomas reports to the 88th Operation Support Squadron at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, as an Airfield Operations Officer.

LSU Navy ROTC

  • South Riding, Va.– 2nd Lt. Jack Burton Colosky received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. After graduation, Colosky reports to the Basic School in Quantico, Va., where he will compete to become an Infantry Officer.
  • Covington, La.– 2nd Lt. Zavien Andrew Kellum received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Digital Media. After graduation, Kellum will report to the WASP-Class amphibious assault ship, USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) stationed in Naval Station Norfolk where he will serve as a Surface Warfare Officer in cryptologic warfare.
  • Baton Rouge, La.– 2nd Lt. Hayes Paul Pipes received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. After graduation, Pipes will report to Naval Flight School at Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla., as a Student Naval Aviator.
  • Tempe, Ariz. – 2nd Lt. Vincent Witowski received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a concentration in Disaster Science and Management. After graduation, Witowski will report to Basic School in Quantico, Va.
  • Sarepta, La. – 2nd Lt. Lawrence Gonzalez Jr. received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, he will report to the Guided Missile Destroyer, USS John Finn (DDG 113) stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, where he will serve as a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer.
  • Houston, Texas – 2nd Lt. Joel Victor Mosier Jr. received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. After graduation, he will report to Basic School in Quantico, Va., where he will compete to become a Ground Intelligence Officer.
  • Pulaski, Tenn. – 2nd Lt. Dustin Kyle Pope received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Administration with concentrations in Sport Commerce and Sport Leadership. After graduation he will report to Basic School in Quantico, Va.
