College is such a special and amazing time, but sometimes you need a little extra help. For me going into college there were so many changes and new things I had to learn and I leaned on different support people on campus to help me process what I was going through. I love that now I get to care for and help give guidance to the students who are experiencing the same concerns and feelings that I was. It brings me so much joy to see the students I have worked with grow and take on leadership roles, succeed in their classes, and find success after graduation in their careers or further degree programs.

Advice for incoming first-year students 

It is so important to take risks. College is a unique time when you can challenge yourself to try new things and seek out experiences you might not normally be drawn to. I would never have found my passion for working with students if I had not challenged my introverted self to get out there and apply for different positions and opportunities on campus.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is

Take the things you do seriously, but don't take yourself seriously. Life is boring if you can't laugh at yourself from time to time.
