In the week October 21-25 Dr. Michael Leitner was invited by the Police Headquarters Aalen in Germany to teach a workshop on Criminal Geographic Profiling (CGP) to a small group of GIS crime analysts.  GCP includes GIS tools that law enforcement agencies apply to model the anchor point (mostly the residence) of a serial offender.  The practical CGP example discussed was localized serial killer Jean Vincent Gillis, who was apprehended in Baton Rouge on April 29 , 2004, not too far away from the LSU campus.  More details about the Gillis GCP can be found at ScienceDirect
