Andean Archaeologists Publish Research Reports
An international team of archaeologists, including G+A Professor David Chicoine and G+A alumna Beverly Clement (MA Anthropology 2012), recently co-authored two articles in the journal Andean Past. The papers, available in open access format, explore "Plants and Diets in Early Horizon Peru: Macrofloral Remains from Rehydrated Fecal Samples at Caylán" and "Taxonomic Analyses of the Vertebrate Faunal Remains from Caylán, Peru," respectively. The research was in large part funded by a grant awarded to Chicoine by the Louisiana Board of Regents to study ancient urban lifeways in coastal Peru through archaeological remains recovered at the site of Caylán (~600-200 BCE).
