Geography and Anthropology Students Win Awards at SWAAG 2019
The Southwest Division of the American Association of Geographers (SWAAG) annual meeting was held in Ft. Worth, Texas from October 10-11, 2019. Our department was represented by 5 graduate students (Kathleen Benedetto, Marisa Karpinski, Krista Bennett, Kyle Bikowski, and Ria Mukerji) and 2 undergraduate students (Macy Linton and Phuc Phan). All students participated in the annual regional Geobowl competition.
A big congratulations to the following students for receiving student awards:
Ria Mukerji for winning first place in the graduate student poster competition for her research titled, “Changing Geographies of Flood Mitigation Policies: A Case Study of Central, Louisiana”, and Kathleen Benedetto for third place in the graduate student poster competition for her research, “Climatology and Spatiotemporal Analysis of North Atlantic Rapidly Intensifying Hurricanes."
