LSU Alumnus Featured Speaker at AAG

Richard Campanella, LSU geography alumnus, was the featured speaker at the annual Geographical Review lecture during the recent AAG meeting in New Orleans. His talk before a full house was entitled “Delta Z: New Orleans’ Tempestuous Relationship with its Topographic Elevation.”
He currently holds the position of Geographer/Senior Professor of Practice in the Tulane School of Architecture. He is one of our most prolific and high profile graduates and is noted for his insightful books and articles on New Orleans that blend deep historical research with masterful GIS visualizations.
Since Katrina, he has become one of the most highly visible and widely trusted spokespeople on the geographic condition of New Orleans. He has received wide acclaim for his contributions to the recovery process, and he has presented talks across the country and around the world on the impacts of the storm and the efforts to restore the city.
