Discovering Your Career Path with Job Simulations at LSU

LSU students are stepping into the shoes of professionals in top global companies—all without leaving campus.

Thanks to virtual job simulations, LSU students can explore career paths with companies like Pepsi, Citibank, Walmart, Red Bull, Lululemon, EA Sports, and more. This immersive experience is designed to help students understand what working in various fields entails, offering clarity on majors and career options.
Forage offers virtual work-experience simulations that give students resources and tasks to simulate the work within the chosen organization. It allows students to get hands-on experience, build confidence in their current path, or offer insights that might guide them toward new fields.

“In just a few years, over 700 LSU students have leveraged Forage to illuminate their career paths. By bridging the gap between education and future goals, Forage empowers students to excel academically,” said Blake Winchell, the Associate Director of Student Services in the LSU Olinde Career Center, adding that Forage offers immersive experiences from the comfort of students’ homes and empowers them to gain valuable information about their future.
“The Olinde Career Center strongly encourages all students to take advantage of this incredible opportunity,” he said.
Accessible through the Forage platform in LSU’s Navigate app, the simulations are free and straightforward. Students select a company and field, then complete a 4- to 5-hour project that mirrors the daily tasks of employees in that role. Each step includes real examples from industry experts to guide students through the project, ensuring they’re learning and growing without the stress of grades or evaluations.
The participation gives LSU students a unique perspective on their future, with the freedom to explore different industries in a supportive, low-pressure environment. For those who are undecided or exploring their options, Forage’s simulations offer a powerful tool to shape academic and career decisions.
