National Pollster Charlie Cook to Moderate LSU Pre-Election Event

September 9, 2024

BATON ROUGE—As the nation gears up for one of the most pivotal elections in recent history, the LSU Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at the Manship School of Mass Communication will prepare students and citizens to cast an informed vote with its upcoming event, “The 2024 Presidential Election: How to Analyze It like a Pro,” on Sept. 19, at 3 p.m.

Charlie Cook will moderate the event. He is one of the nation’s leading authorities on U.S. elections and political trends. He joined the Manship School this fall as the Kevin P. Reilly Sr. Endowed Chair in Political Communication.

Occurring as early voting begins and shortly after the second presidential debate, this event will feature a dynamic fireside chat with prominent media figures and political strategists from both major parties. The discussion will cover current party dynamics, key swing states, potential game-changers and the future of the political landscape.

Panelists will include:

  • Jonathan Martin, Politics Bureau Chief and Senior Political Columnist for Politico
  • Betsy Fischer Martin, Executive Director for the Women & Politics Institute and Executive in Residence for the School of Public Affairs at American University
  • Neil Newhouse, Partner and Co-founder of Public Opinion Strategies

The event is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. CT in the Holliday Forum of the LSU Journalism Building. Admission is free and open to the public. Register for the event on Eventbrite, or watch the livestream on the Manship School’s YouTube Channel
