Lisa Fisher

On Campus Recruiting Coordinator

Lisa Fisher

This job gives me purpose after twenty years of working in retail management. My previous career experience in fast-paced environments allows me to face challenges courageously and showcase my customer service skills. I utilize my planning and coordinating abilities to create successful teams differently now. I create a wonderful, safe place for students to be their best.

I am here for the students interviewing for the next step in their journey and for the employers looking for “Ready to Roar” Tigers to help their companies succeed. Working in higher education brings joy to my life, and I am eager to see how I evolve from the hustle of retail life to contributing to LSU’s success!

Living life in full bloom

I have a mighty green thumb and can propagate any plant like magic.
My longest plant relationship is with the Christmas Cactus my parents gifted me when I moved out of their home in 2008. My little Publix plant is now a beautiful four-foot-wide Queen in my oasis. I look forward to the bright fuchsia buds forming and blooming every year.

My favorite spot

The Memorial Oak Grove. Walking through the area makes me feel like I’m in the movie “Ferngully,” with the lush vegetation around the gorgeous oak trees. I love taking a stroll and admiring the small forest in front of the Student Union. It reminds me of state parks throughout the Southeast and makes me feel at home in Baton Rouge.

Words to live by

“One day at a time” – my dad.

My dad battled with pancreatic cancer for five years, and although he is gone now, he made a significant impact on the medical community. Being around him brought light and love to others; he became a spiritual life coach for everyone around him. Every day with him was a blessing and a memorable moment. His response to his diagnosis was “one day at a time.” I didn’t know what that meant since he raised my sister and me to be hard workers who could achieve anything and to always look towards the future to exceed our present. It took me a decade after he passed to understand what that meant. We do not know how long we have in our lifetime; what we can do is enjoy the things that come our way and take it all in one day at a time.
