Upcoming Meeting With Academic Counselors
Students fulfilling the criteria below will be required to schedule a meeting with an academic counselor before they can schedule courses for the Fall 2020 semester. Your student should receive an email in the coming weeks if they fall into one of the following categories:
- Students who have an “undecided major:” UNSE, UNSS, and UNAH. UCFY academic counselors will advise these students on continuing education requirements and major selection along with course recommendations for the Summer/Fall 2020 semesters.
- Students who have a D, F, or NA (not attending) midterm grade. Counselors will advise these students and offer suggestions for improvement with the deadline to drop a course in mind, should that need arise.
- Students who need to drop a class or resign must meet with a UCFY counselor no later than Monday, April 6, 2020.
For students to schedule a UCFY appointment, they need to download the Navigate Student App from the Apple Store or Google Play Store. University College academic counselors are available to assist Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. From March 30 to April 6, UCFY Counselors will only be seeing students on a drop-in basis 8:00 am – 3:30 pm except on Monday, April 6, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Comprehensive Academic Tracking System (CATS) Advising
CATS is designed to monitor student course progress and to keep students on a graduation track each semester. Students who are not enrolled in critical CATS course requirements for Spring 2020 will be receiving an email to alert them of this deficiency, and a meeting with a UCFY academic counselor is recommended to discuss a resolution to the tracking issue.
University College plays an important role in advising and guiding your LSU student through the start of a successful undergraduate career. Spring classes are in full force, and that means that it will soon be time for advising and planning for Fall 2020 courses. Students who have any questions about CATS should feel free to contact any of our counselors by setting up an appointment using the Navigate Student App.
