UCFY Parent Newsletter October 2021

MID-TERM GRADES AND DROPPING A COURSE
Mid-semester grades will post on Tuesday, October 19. All students who receive a mid-term grade below “C-” are encouraged to visit with their professor to discuss options for improved performance in the remaining weeks in the fall semester. All UCFY students must consult with one of our counselors to drop a class by emailing ucfy@lsu.edu or meeting virtually with a UCFY counselor. The deadline to drop classes or resign for the semester is Friday, November 5, 2021 by 4:30 p.m.
Students receiving federal financial aid (loans or grants), Institutional scholarships, or other forms of financial aid should contact the LSU Financial Aid & Scholarships office to determine potential impact on award eligibility prior to dropping a class or resigning for the semester. Students may call 225-578-3103 or email financialaid@lsu.edu or scholarships@lsu.edu.
Spring scheduling is right around the corner!
Did you know that students will be responsible for registering for courses themselves? Students will receive an email from the University Registrar informing them of their scheduling priority. This means they will need to start planning their spring schedule to begin adding classes after 5 PM (Central Standard Time) on their registration priority day.
We understand that for most students, this will be their first time registering for courses. To assist students during this process, we have a variety of ways to receive advising and assistance.
UCFY College Advising Workshops
UCFY will be offering College-Specific Live Advising Workshops via Zoom the week of October 25 – October 29. Students will be sent an email invitation soon according to their respective college-specific workshop based on their major. During this workshop, students can expect to learn the full process of scheduling courses to be completely prepared for the moment their scheduling priority opens. Students who attend these workshops will have the opportunity to have their Spring schedule verified by an academic counselor to ensure they are scheduled properly for the Spring semester. The workshops will be offered on the dates outlined in the box below:
