GeauxTeach STEM Scholarship Opportunities
Apply Through LSU’s Online Scholarship System: Blackbaud Award Management
This management system will enable students to search for and apply to various available opportunities funded through the LSU Foundation. You can view the system by logging in to MyLSU > Financial Services > Blackbaud Award Management. Students can log in using their myLSU credentials. The applications are submitted in the spring semester and the scholarships are awarded the next academic year.
GeauxTeach Scholarships opportunities:
- Clarence & Ann Cazalot GeauxTeach Outreach Scholarship
Full-time LSU undergraduate students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, who have declared a concentration in a secondary education teacher certification program (GeauxTeach) and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 are eligible to apply. The award amount is $2000. The scholarships were created with a generous gift from the Cazalots who are deeply committed to providing outstanding educational opportunities to LSU students. These scholarships are awarded to at least one junior and one senior. - JoAnne J Martin Memorial GeauxTeach Math Student Scholarship
Full-time LSU undergraduate students, concentrating in secondary education (GeauxTeach) with a declared major in Mathematics are eligible to apply. Students should have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. - Michael and Carol Stamatedes GeauxTeach Student Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate students enrolled in LSU’s secondary education teacher certification program (GeauxTeach) with a declared major in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics and a minimum GPA of 3.0 are eligible to apply. - Pat Bodin GeauxTeach Scholarship
Full-time freshman students pursuing the GeauxTeach secondary teacher preparation program in the College of Science who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preferential consideration will be given to entering freshmen. The award amount is $2000/year, through graduation, with the recipients receiving a maximum of 4 years of funding. - T.D. III & Sue Howe GeauxTeach Student Scholarship
Full-time student in the College of Human Sciences and Education who is enrolled in LSU’s secondary education certification program (GeauxTeach) with a declared major in either Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. - Margaret Oxley Memorial Award
This award was introduced in Spring, 2010, following the death of Margaret Catherine Oxley at the age of thirty-six. Margaret was the daughter of James and Judith Oxley and the older sister of David Oxley. James has been a member of the Mathematics Department since 1982. This award is given each spring to a math major with a concentration in mathematics education, who is graduating within the calendar year. The award is based on teaching ability. The award carries a cash stipend of $500 and was endowed by Judith and James in 2010 with the help of contributions from faculty and friends. The GeauxTeach Operations Committee nominates possible recipients and recommendations are submitted to Dr. Oxley in the spring. Award recipients receive the stipend within the same semester. McNair Research Scholars, administered through LSU University College, provides undergraduate research internships and graduate school application assistance for students who would be the first in their family to complete college, students who are from a background of financial need, and students from ethnic groups underrepresented in graduate education. An IDEAL CANDIDATE for the McNair Research Scholars program is an eligible sophomore or junior student with a 3.0 GPA or higher, and is interested in research, pursuing graduate education, or career goals involving a research-based profession. The TEACH Grant program was created to assist in the development and recruitment of teachers for high need programs in public or private elementary or secondary schools that serve low-income families.
