We build leaders that win

Tiger Battalion

Welcome to Louisiana State University's Army Reserve Officer Training Corps. The goal of the Tiger Battalion is to produce the highest quality of officers. To achieve this goal, we combine academics, selfless service, and personal integrity to create an atmosphere which turns our young adults into Ladies and Gentlemen.

The U.S Army and Army Reserve offer training and hands-on experience in a variety of career paths. From engineering, law, medicine, and more, there are few institutions in the world that can match the training and educational services of the Army.

Aside from on-the-job training, the Army has dozens of programs designed to help Soldiers earn a college degree without having to swim through a sea of debt afterwards. The ROTC program allows a young adult to attend college, receive Army training, and a commission as a U.S. Army Officer upon graduation.

What is Army ROTC?

Leadership That Lasts A Lifetime

Army ROTC is an elective curriculum offered by LSU that provides students with tools, training, and experiences to succeed in competitive environments. It is the only set of classes focused on leadership, ethical, and moral decision making at the university. Army ROTC can cover college tuition and can be participated in freshman and sophomore years without any obligation to join the Army. As a member of Army ROTC, students will also be part of LSU's oldest student organization, the Corps of Cadets. After graduation, graduates are commissioned as Officers in the Army, allowing them to specialize in various interest areas called branches.

Your Commitment

Army ROTC students who receive a scholarship or enroll in the Advanced Course must commit to serving in the Army for three years, with scholarship winners serving four years. Some may choose to serve part-time in the U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard while pursuing a civilian career. The experience offers unique leadership skills and challenges. Enrolling in the Army ROTC Basic Course does not require service commitment unless an Army ROTC Scholarship is received.
