Events
Cadets of the Ole War Skule members prepare and serve jambalaya to returning members of the LSU Corps of Cadets and cadre to welcome them back to campus in September. The annual event provides a venue for seasoned veterans and alumni to visit with the young men and women who will carry LSU's military legacy into the future.
Started in 2022, the Corps of Cadets host an annual stair climb in Tiger Stadium in remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Participants come from all parts of campus such as LSU Greek Life, Student Government, LSU Athletics, ROTC, and more.
Saturday, October 12th
Each homecoming week, the Corps of Cadets host a tailgate inviting alumni from across the world to attend. Throughout the week, alumni come to speak at their respective units to offer insight on different career fields and share stories from their experiences.
Held in November
It occurs each November on the Saturday of a home football game that falls nearest to Veterans Day. The event also recognizes and honors POWs, MIAs, and Medal of Honor recipients. LSU Salutes is the catalyst for renewal of institutional and alumni commitment to the Ole War Skule.
Held in March
The LSU President's Day Parade and Change of Command Ceremony is held annually at the LSU War Memorial on the Parade Ground. The parade honors the school's military heritage. The ceremony is followed by the Joint ROTC Awards Ceremony, which recognizes the accomplishments of future military officers in the Corps of Cadets.
Thursday, May 15th
Ever year seniors, family, and friends gather to celevrate the years of dedication shown by cadets in the culminating commissioning. The commissioning ceremony includes traditional elements such as the oath of office, family, and friends affixing their officer's rank, and the time-honored traditional silver dollar salute.
