Biography
Gawon Kim is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Manship School of Mass Communication.
She received her M.A. in Communication and Information from the University of Tennessee.
Kim’s research interests are emerging media, visual communication, and social issues
related to advertising. In terms of teaching, Kim is interested in teaching advertising
introduction, (quantitative and qualitative) research methods, media planning, and
visual communications. She has taught visual communication (Fall 2018) and qualitative
audience analysis (Spring 2017). Kim will teach quantitative audience analysis in
the coming semester (Fall 2019). At the recent 2018 AEJMC convention, Kim received
a top paper award in advertising division.
The study was about examining the determinants of consumer engagement on social media
regarding four consecutive years of Super Bowl commercials.
