LSU Public Relations Junior Awarded Prestigious Disney UNCF Corporate Scholarship

BATON ROUGE—Kynnedi Hines, a junior studying public relations at LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication, has been selected as a recipient of the esteemed Disney UNCF Corporate Scholarship. This collaboration between Disney and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) aims to recognize and support high-achieving students across the nation.
Hines, who originally enrolled at LSU as a pre-law major, discovered her passion for mass communication during her freshman year and, subsequently, switched her major to public relations. Reflecting on her journey at the Manship School, she credits internship coordinator Sadie Wilks and career coach Becky Sadler for helping her excel professionally.
Upon receiving news of the scholarship award, Hines expressed her gratitude, stating, "Receiving this scholarship award and job opportunity installed a level of indescribable confidence." She added, "The hard work is finally paying off."
As a recipient of the Disney UNCF Corporate Scholarship, Hines will receive a $5,000 renewable scholarship, along with access to professional development and early career opportunities.
Hines’ dedication to her studies and extracurricular involvement, including membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the National Panhellenic Council Executive Board, National Association of Black Journalists and the Minority Women’s Movement, where she is president, showcases her commitment to both academic excellence and community engagement. Hines is from Atlanta, Georgia.
