Former U.S. Senator John Breaux taught his first class at The Manship School on Monday, August 21, 2017. The special topics course, “How Washington Works,” is a senior-level class comprised of 20 undergraduate and graduate students. Over the course of the semester, the students will examine the history of and changes to the political landscape in Washington D.C., as well as the relationship between the government and the press. Additionally, students will explore the policy-making process, with particular emphasis on enduring policy issues and the impact of legislative and lobbying strategies. With his 45 years of experience in our nation’s capital, Breaux will share an array of personal stories, like the one below regarding broken furniture and Richard Nixon.
