Apply now for Paul S. Gravel Federal Intern Scholarship

LSU-Baton Rouge undergraduate students of any major are encouraged to apply for Paul S. Gravel Federal Intern Scholarship for the summer of 2017.

The $2,500 scholarship is awarded each year to a student who participates in an unpaid or under-paid Washington, D.C.-based internship for a policy- or legislative oriented organization.

The scholarship was inspired by the late Paul Gravel, formerly executive director of LSU’s Washington office, and his efforts to create internship opportunities for students interested in learning about the American political process.

Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and have earned at least 60 credit hours by the end of the spring 2017 semester. Students must also demonstrate that they have been offered a Washington, D.C., internship for the summer of 2017.

The application deadline is Friday, April 28, 2017.

Applications must be accompanied by: an essay (no longer than 1,000 words) stating why the specific internship opportunity is meaningful to his or her course of study or personal/professional goals; a letter of recommendation from an LSU faculty or staff member familiar with the student’s work; and, a statement of financial need, signed by the student and a parent or guardian.
