Provost's Fund: Council on Research Summer Stipend Program
The Council on Research (CoR) Summer Stipend Program provides financial support to early career researchers at the rank of assistant professor seeking to contribute to scholarly knowledge in their discipline. Each proposal is evaluated for the potential impact on the indicated discipline, broader impacts, opportunities for future funding, and the general impact on the researcher’s career. This program enables pre-tenure faculty recipients to dedicate a portion of the summer term to research activity without the disruption of other employment obligations. The research should be conducted at the appropriate location and is not restricted to the LSU campus.
Scope and Funding
A $6,000 research stipend is awarded to provide a one-month appointment in July of the year awarded. Recipients may not teach any summer sessions nor accept any other college or departmental summer stipend support. Awardees are expected to submit a final report which describes research activities, accomplishments and any work products that have been completed.
Eligibility
Application to the CoR Summer Stipend Program is limited to LSU faculty who hold the rank of Assistant Professor. Eligible faculty can receive this award only once but may apply up to three times. Faculty on a 12-month appointment are not eligible for this award.
Applications
The Summer Stipend Program announcement will occur during the beginning of the Fall semester with a submission deadline of the beginning of Spring Semester. Award announcements will occur by March 1, for projects beginning in mid-June of the same year.
Applications should be submitted through the LSU Internal Grants & Competition Portal.
