Councils & Chapters
LSU is home to 36 active chapters, three governing councils, and two honorary societies. Our community is supported by the office of Greek Life through leadership development programming, contract and event planning support, financial management assistance for the councils, and other avenues.
As governing body of 18 fraternities on LSU’s campus, the Interfraternity Council (IFC) establishes guidelines for managing the issues and activities of each chapter. Its purpose is to promote unity among individual chapters, foster relations between the Greek community and the university, and see that all rules, policies, and regulations passed by the council are followed by the fraternities.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (NPHC) is composed of nine International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities. LSU has currently has four of the nine NPHC organizations.
The Panhellenic Council (PHC) is the governing body of 14 sororities on campus and plans the formal recruitment process.
