Salary Negotiation: Are you graduating soon and starting to look for a job?  If so, the skills learned in this workshop will definitely come in handy!  With the help of our friends in LSU Career Services, attendees will learn how to evaluate the critical components of salary packages and learn effective communication techniques when negotiation salary and benefits with potential employers.

Social Media Etiquette:  While Facebook, Instagram and Twitter can be fun ways to connect with friends, the messages we put out into the world via social media will forever be associated with our name.  At this workshop, our guest speaker, Allie McAlpin, Marketing and Communications Director at Lamar Advertising, will walk us through some of the rules for navigating social media with grace and cautious futuristic lens.

Email Etiquette, becoming a professional: Do you know the difference between the “to” field and the “bcc” field when sending an email? Do you effectively use email subject lines? Do you always proofread your emails for tone and grammar before sending? We will be talking about these things and much more! Yes, email is quick, easy, and a major communication medium for all professions, but this doesn’t mean all grammar rules go out the window. There are also many genre and etiquette rules to email and you should know them all if you want to successfully correspond with others.

Personality Styles and Communication:  Do you dread group projects due to bad past experiences?  Maybe the group members didn’t effectively communicate or there was a personality clash? Instead of fearing your next group project, come to this workshop to learn how to make them more successful!  Our guest speaker, Randy Nichols, a Certified Myers Briggs Type Indicator Practitioner, will show us how our personality styles shape our communication styles, specifically within group dynamics.
