Pathway to Nursing School
- Designate your "major" as Pre-Nursing, which is a pre-professional/non-degree program at LSU
- Take the necessary pre-requisite courses for your desired nursing school (ex: LSU Health New Orleans)
- Maintain a high GPA (3.0 minimum, "B" or higher in all science courses)
- Prep for and take the HESI Admission Assessment Exam (80% score minimum)
- Complete any additional application requirements (written statement, interview, etc.)

Undergraduate Prerequisites Only + Nursing Degree (B.S.N.)
- 1 year of undergraduate coursework at LSU
- 3 years of nursing school
- 4 estimated total years of school after high school
In Fall 2025, LSU Health Sciences Center will offer its Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing at an off-campus instructional site on the LSU Baton Rouge Campus.
**The LSU Health Sciences Center determines all Financial Aid & Scholarships for the B.S. Nursing program on the New Orleans and Baton Rouge campuses. Financial Aid & Scholarships awarded by LSU-Baton Rouge prior to enrolling in the program do not transfer, regardless of campus.
