Levels of achievement within the Ogden Honors College curriculum

 

College Honors

Certified on the diploma, College Honors is the culmination of the Ogden Honors curriculum. College Honors requires:

  • 32 total hours of honors credit
  • 3.5 GPA in overall, LSU, and honors course work
  • 6 hours of HNRS (honors college) credit
  • Senior honors thesis or capstone project
  • 12 hours of Honors course credit at the 3000/4000 level, adhering to Upper Division programs where they exist

Upper Division Honors Distinction

Notated on the transcript, Upper Division Honors Distinction supports and includes the senior thesis project. Programs vary by major, so consult individual departments for requirements beyond those listed.

  • 12 hours of honors course credit at the 3000/4000 level, including 3-6 hours of thesis or project
  • 3.5 GPA in both overall and LSU course work, and for all Upper Division program courses
  • Senior honors thesis or capstone project

Sophomore Honors Distinction

Notated on the transcript, Sophomore Honors Distinction signifies considerable progress toward College Honors, although is not required to attain that goal. To attain Sophomore Honors Distinction, complete:

  • 20 hours of honors courses in the first four semesters including, 6 hours of HNRS credit
  • 3.5 GPA in overall, LSU, and honors course work

Good Standing

In order to remain enrolled in the Ogden Honors College, register for honors courses, and be eligible for priority registration, you must

  • Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Complete two honors courses for 5-6 hours per academic year
