Students Win Presentation Awards at the Deepwater Technical Symposium

Graduate Students Caitlyn Thiberville and James Nielsen participated in the 23rd Annual Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Technical Symposium and placed 1st and 2nd (respectively), winning awards for their presentations.  The symposium, which was held in New Orleans, LA from Monday-Wednesday August 26-28, was a joint effort between SPE Delta Section, AADE New Orleans, and the New Orleans Geological Society.  Ms. Thiberville, who took 1st place, was recognized for her presentations titled, "Simulation of Foam-Assisted Mud Cap Drilling Processes".  Mr. Nielsen was recognized for his presentation titled, "Absorption and Desorption Behaviors of Methane in Oil for an Enhanced Riser Gas Management" and took 2nd place.  Congratulations to our students for their accomplishments and for representing the department and LSU well!
