Wooden Honored for 30 Years of Service
Jeanette Wooden was recently honored at the LSU 2023 Faculty and Staff Recognition Jazz Brunch on Friday, April 28, for her 30 years of dedicated and loyal service. Although her student employment does not count toward her years of service, Wooden has worked for the Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering for nearly 39 years. She was hired out of high school at the age of 17 on July 9, 1984, and and worked while in college as a student worker. Upon her graduation from LSU, she was hired full time in the department on February 17, 1992, as a staff member. Wooden is essentially the historical time keeper of the department, remembering to wish everyone a happy birthday on their big day, and she can always be counted on when a Google fact check is needed for the department.
Currently working as the Petroleum Engineering Research, Training, and Testing (PERTT) Lab Business Office and Grant Coordinator, Wooden has worn many hats. Now, she provides administrative support and office coordination to the PERTT Lab by preparing budget reports and invoices for industry customers using the lab; and procures various equipment and supplies, reconciles grants, and appoints students for the LSU Student Internship Program. In the past, she assisted the editor of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Journal of Energy Resources Technology, reconciled unrestricted accounts, assisted with Minerals Management Service (MMS)-certified well control training courses and faculty-sponsored workshops, assisted with travel, and served as the departmental leave record keeper and United Way contact.
Wooden's favorite aspect of her job is having the privilege of getting to know, care for, form lasting friendships, and faithfully serve the faculty, staff, and students that are from all parts of the world.
