December 17, 2024

The LSU College of the Coast & Environment welcomes its newest group of alumni, the class of Fall 2024!

“Today, our graduates achieve a major life milestone, as they receive the diplomas they’ve worked so hard for. This represents not only an academic achievement – which is by itself impressive – but also dedication to scientific rigor, critical collaboration skills, and a passion for building a more sustainable and resilient future," said CC&E Dean Clint Willson. "Congratulations, graduates! We can't wait to see where you go next!”

This class boasts five students receiving their doctorates and nine receiving their Master's degrees. Fifteen students will graduate with a Bachelor's degree from the Coastal Environmental Sciences, or CES, program. They include reseachers, modelers, data scientists, a track athlete and a patent-holder.

For his next step, CES graduate Ji'eem Bullock is planning on studying Public Health and Communication at the University of Illinois-Urbana. PhD candidate Daoyang Bao will be further pursuing natural hazards research. And Elaina Ingle, who has completed the Online Master's in Environmental Sciences, hopes to work in endangered species protection.

PhD candidate Nicholas Culligan said his work in a Department of Oceanography & Coastal Sciences lab informed not only his experience at CC&E but also his future work as well. "I worked in the Global Change and Coastal Paleoecology Lab with Dr. Kam-biu Liu. Working with Dr. Liu greatly enhanced my research experience and his support and mentorship helped me to carve out my own research niche, allowing me to be one of the first in the world to investigate an important topic. The opportunity to study with world class researchers and create a wide network of collaborators and peers at LSU and beyond provided an extraordinary experience while completing my Ph.D. I look forward to continuing to work with everyone in the future and will continue to publish on the topics I researched while at LSU."

Congratulations to all CC&E graduates! We can't wait to see what you will do next!
