Congratulations, Fall 2023 Graduates!

CC&E is excited to welcome its latest group of alumni, the class of Fall 2023!

This graduating class represents the full range of possibilities CC&E has to offer. They are receiving Bachelor’s, Masters and PhDs, in Environmental Sciences and Oceanography & Coastal Sciences. They completed their coursework in person and online. Their research included using drones to track coastal wetlands, better understanding enrollments in the National Flood Insurance Program, and locating underwater landslides.

“ Our students go on to hold exciting positions all over the world, and I can’t wait to see the impacts you’ll have as you find new ways to make our lives, our environments and our world healthier and more sustainable ”

“Commencement is such a significant milestone. Congratulations to all of our graduates—enjoy your moment today. You’ve earned it, and the hard work and dedication you’ve shown during your time with us will continue to serve you well on the rest of your career journeys,” said Clint Willson, the interim dean of CC&E. “Our students go on to hold exciting positions all over the world, and I can’t wait to see the impacts you’ll have as you find new ways to make our lives, our environments and our world healthier and more sustainable.”

“We are very proud of all the graduates of the Department of Oceanography & Coastal Sciences,” said Department Chair Kanchan Maiti. “Whether your work leads you to restoring our wetlands, preparing coastal communities for hurricanes and other natural disasters, or tackling any of the other challenges facing our world’s coastal areas, rivers, and oceans, I know the rigorous interdisciplinary training you received here will serve you well.”

“The Department of Environmental Sciences is so proud of our latest alumni,” said Kevin Armbrust, the chair of DES. “Your time here has already allowed you to delve deep into so many significant fields – you have examined the future of energy in the 21st century, explored the connections between public health and the environment, looked at the impacts of climate change on society, and much more. This commitment has resulted in a significant accomplishment and you should take great pride in that.”
