Congratulations to CC&E's Fall Class of 2022!

December 16, 2022

BATON ROUGE -- On December 16th, the LSU College of the Coast & Environment is proud to award degrees to the 15 graduates of the fall Class of 2022.

“Congratulations to our newest group of CC&E alumni,” said Dean Chris D’Elia. “One of the best parts of my job is watching the students who’ve worked so hard over the past few years take the stage at graduation. Our graduates hold exciting positions all over the world. Best of luck to all as you take the next step in your journey.”

CC&E students have prepared to step out in the world not just by completing rigorous work in the classroom, but by gaining experience in the real world applications of the knowledge and skills they’ve acquired. They have taken field trips, and worked in labs alongside faculty, and done outreach into the local community. They have studied crawfish and aquaculture, assessed the water quality in the Northern Gulf of Mexico, examined the habitat of the Gulf Sturgeon, and looked at environmental and energy policy.

Notably, 8 of the students receiving diplomas are from CC&E’s online Master’s in Environmental Science program. This represents this program’s largest ever graduating class. "We are very excited to graduate another class of online MS students. These students have managed to juggle some extremely rigorous classes with their work and family obligations, and I know that they will utilize the skills and knowledge as they move forward in their careers," said Brian Snyder, an associate professor and the graduate advisor in the Department of Environmental Sciences.

Whether online or in-person, these students have shown persistence, integrity and a strong commitment to research and advancing knowledge. CC&E is proud to have been a step in their journey. We are confident their passion for science and their rigorous dedication to the coast and the environment take them far!
