Notification of 2024 Selected Cohort: March 1, 2024

The Cohort will begin on-boarding activities in workshops and activities in spring 2024 and will begin research activities in summer 2024.

Eligibility

  • Students from groups underrepresented in graduate education, including low-income and first-generation students

Resources

  • $2,800 Research stipend for summer research internship
  • Advisement and guidance leading to bachelorette graduation and planning for post-graduation plans
  • Graduate school application fee waivers and financial aid opportunities
  • Mentorship

Application Process Details

The application is submitted online via a customized LSU McNair AwardSpring™ site. There, you can start, stop, and finish the application at any time using your login and password. The application consists of the following: 

  • Basic academic information
  • Eligibility information 
  • Three candidate evaluations; at least one must be a faculty member - AwardSpring™ Automates this using your recommender's emails
  • Three short response essays

A note on need determination:

  • Need is a key criteria in determining program eligibility. Need is determined by the highest level of educational attainment of an applicant's parent(s)/guardian(s) and the applicant's family's taxable income. Candidates give permission for the LSU McNair Program to obtain family financial information from the LSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
