Super Science Saturday returns with ‘eerie-sistible’ fun for the community

BATON ROUGE - The LSU Department of Chemistry is happy to announce the return of Super Science Saturday on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10 AM to 3 PM in the LSU Pete Maravich Assembly Center – Upper Concourse area. Super Science Saturday is a free public outreach and science education event for kindergarten to 12th-grade students, parents, and anyone interested in seeing science in action.  

This year’s event will feature 21 hands-on science activity stations staffed by a variety of LSU departments and organizations, local companies, state agencies, and colleges. Numerous activity stations will offer an exciting blend of STEM and Halloween-themed fun. 
 
2023 Super Science Saturday participants include: BASF, Dow, ExxonMobil, Grace, Cornerstone Chemical, LSU College of Science departments and faculty, LSU student organizations, LIGO Livingston, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, Capital Area STEM Network, and Industry Makes.  
 
Upon checking in at the event, every K-12 student will be provided with a Passport, a document listing all the participating organizations and activity stations. Students will have their Passports stamped as they engage in the different activities. After visiting all the activity stations, students can head to the exit area, present their stamped passports, and receive a small complimentary prize. 
 
Super Science Saturday is sponsored by the LSU Department of Chemistry, LSU Athletics, and the Baton Rouge Section of the American Chemical Society. Originally started to celebrate National Chemistry Week over 25 years ago, the event has expanded into a broader STEM education activity on the LSU campus while maintaining an enjoyable focus on chemistry.
