TEXO Scholarship
TEXO Foundation awarded $25,000 in scholarships to students from regional universities. Applications are for students interested in working in the construction industry with at least one semester remaining in their program of study (including Graduate students). Students are encouraged to apply for the scholarships on an annual basis. After receiving the applications, the TEXO Foundation reviews the applications and determines which students will receive an opportunity to interview for a scholarship. Many factors weigh into the decision of awarding scholarships, and the Foundation takes time to visit with the candidates in a panel-style interview. Applications are typically due by the first week of December.
Applications can be obtained by contacting TEXO by email - texo@texoassociation.org
CM Department Teaching/Graduate Assistantships
Some graduate teaching assistantships are available through the Construction Management Department.
Assistantships are granted on a competitive basis; the major decision criteria are
GPA, GRE score, and progress toward completion of the degree. Students interested
in being considered for assistantships should normally have their applications completed
and received by February 1st and October 1st for the following fall and spring semesters,
respectively. Students should also be aware that the ability to communicate is a primary
factor considered in the awarding of teaching assistantships. Priority will be given
to existing LSU PhD students.
Individual CM graduate faculty also have research projects that may provide graduate
assistantships; individual faculty should be contacted about these opportunities.
In addition, the CM graduate faculty may nominate outstanding new applicants for an
assistantship enhancement through the Graduate School Scholars Program. These enhancements
provide a stipend in addition to the departmental graduate assistantship. Beyond the
first semester, continuation of an assistantship is dependent upon the completion
of a degree plan, and a statement from their advisor that they are progressing satisfactorily
toward completion of their degree. Students who are on academic probation and applicants
admitted on probation are not eligible for appointment to graduate assistantships.
Note: Only students who are pursuing a Ph.D. with a construction management concentration are eligible for any of the graduate assistantships.
