January 31, 2023
BATON ROUGE, LA – Elise Frederic, an LSU alumna and first-grade teacher at Lakeside Primary School
in Prairieville, Louisiana, has won the Milken Educator Award. The Milken Educator
Awards, created by Lowell Milken in 1987, have rewarded and inspired excellence in
the world of education by honoring top educators around the country with $25,000 unrestricted
awards. Not an accolade for “lifetime achievement” or the proverbial gold watch at
the exit door, the Milken Educator Awards targets early-to-mid career education professionals
for their already impressive achievements and, more significantly, for the promise
of what they will accomplish in the future.
Frederic received her Master’s in Education with Reading Specialist certification in 2010 from Louisiana State University. She earned her bachelor’s in elementary
education (2007) and a master’s in educational leadership (2016) from Southeastern Louisiana University. Read more about her accomplishment here.
