LSU Experimental Statistics Department Announces New Edition of Widely Used Book
April 13, 2022
(04/13/2022) BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU Department of Experimental Statistics professor Luis A. Escobar has co-authored the Statistical Methods for Reliability Data, Second Edition (SMRD2).
SMRD2 is widely used for graduate-level applied statistics courses and the new edition has in-depth information that can be used in additional research fields.
SMRD2 is a selective read and can be profitably applied by anyone with statistical experience without heavy regard for mathematical details.
SMRD2 is aimed at applications presenting current advanced theory useful in practice and basic methodology. This is apparent from the book’s many applications, the authors’ experience, and the literature.
Those working with strength and lifetime censored data would find SMRD2 useful. Also, scientists in fields using life data, including medicine, can apply the statistical methodology discussed in the book.
SMRD2 is comprehensive and comprises 23 chapters, four technical appendices, and numerous data sets from real-life applications. It is written at an intermediate to advanced level of statistics.
In addition to being an author, Escobar is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, an elected member of the International Statistics Institute, and an elected Member of the Colombian Academy of Sciences. He has many accolades in statistics, including the 2013 Hunter Award. He is also the author of two other books.
More information about SMRD2 can be found in the webpage.
